When you select WV Designs, you will work directly with WV Design's president and owner, Matthew Thornton. Matthew is a skilled and experienced business and technology
professional with a proven track record of delivering successful results to organizations. He formed WV Designs over a decade ago to provide solutions to educational organizations,
state government organizations, and private businesses. The business has remained small over the years as Matthew has personally worked to serve each of his customers. Matthew has
keen business acumen, in depth analytical problem solving skills, strong leadership ability, and a high technical capacity.
Matthew's career history demonstrates his dedication to his profession and achievements in the workplace. He began his career working for a national consulting firm implementing
technical solutions for customers. Following this, he served a West Virginia telecommunications and IT services company for eight years, through the level of Sr. Vice President.
In this role, Matthew was responsible for identifying opportunities to implement software solutions to dynamic business needs, and managing a team of software developers to implement
designed solutions. He also led numerous corporate initiatives to strengthen the business. His role was key to enabling the explosive growth of this organization throughout his tenure,
which was recognized by his aggressive growth in position and responsibility within the company.
Matthew holds several certifications that are highly important to his profession. Early in his career, he earned the Advanced Certified ColdFusion Developer certification recognizing his technical
internet software development skills. He also is a Microsoft Certified Professional in SQL Server. More recently, he obtained the certified Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
This rigorous certification requires documented experience in successfully leading project teams and thoroughly tests the candidate's knowledge and abilities in successfully guiding projects from
inception through completion. Matthew earned a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Marshall University, with majors in Management and Management Information Systems. Matthew's graduate studies
in Business Administration have been completed at West Virginia University.
Matthew firmly believes in being involved within the local community. He serves as a board member for the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce and on the Policies and Procedures Committee for the
West Virginia Business Volunteers Council. He is responsible for forming the North Central Young Leaders association, a community organization designed for young professionals living and working in
North Central West Virginia. He is also an active member of Generation West Virginia, a statewide organization for young talent within the state. Finally, as a component of one of his personal hobbies, Matthew
serves on the board of directors for the West Virginia Jeep Club. In 2009, Matthew was recognized by the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce as the Young Leader of the Year.
